The Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (APTET), conducted by the Andhra Pradesh School Education Department, assesses the qualifications of candidates aspiring to become teachers in the state. The exam is divided into four papers: Paper-1A, Paper-1B, Paper-2A, and Paper-2B.

Paper-1
- Classes I to V
- Paper-1A: Regular education
- Paper-1B: Special education
Paper-2
- Classes VI to VIII
- Paper-2A: Regular education
- Paper-2B: Special education
To qualify for teaching both primary and upper primary levels (Classes I to VIII), candidates must pass both Paper-1 and Paper-2. The question paper will be bilingual (English followed by the candidate’s chosen Language-I, except for Sanskrit, which will be in Telugu followed by Sanskrit).

Language Selection Criteria
Candidates must choose one of the following languages for Language-I: Telugu, Urdu, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, or Odia. They should have studied the selected language either as the medium of study or as the first language up to Class X. CBSE/ICSE curriculum candidates can choose the language studied up to Class X. For Language-II, English is mandatory for all candidates.
Syllabus Content
- Languages (I & II): Focus on proficiency, language elements, communication, and comprehension abilities (Classes III to VIII and Class X level).
- Mathematics & Environmental Studies: Based on topics from Classes III to VIII, with questions up to Class X level.
